I’m posting my pen & ink line-up a later than originally planned. I had hoped that a new pen that shipped out at the end of September would have arrived in time to join the October line-up. I decided to go ahead and post my Currently Inked for October and do an addendum for the new pen.

Pen: Karas Kustoms Ink EF

Ink: Noodler's Raven Black

Well, it’s October and Halloween is coming up at the end of the month, so I thought I should include a stealthy black pen with some black ink. Of course, my Karas Kustoms Ink is not entirely black as removing the cap will reveal the copper orange grip section. I think this is a great combination for a month of fall colours and spookiness.

Pen: TWSBI Eco Black F Pendleton BLS + Extra Flex

Ink: Akkerman #5 Shocking Blue

I had this pen on my wish list as a way to try out the TWSBI Eco as well as see the nib work of Pendleton Brown. The nib has Pendleton’s trademark BLS (Butter Line Stub~italic) grind. I also asked Pendleton to make it “extra flex”. So far, Pendleton has delivered on a nib with elegant line variation. I paired this pen with Shocking Blue as the ink is so dark it looks almost black in the demonstrator body. As well I think the nib will bring out the wicked shading and sheen of the ink.

Pen: Pilot/Namiki Vanishing Point Raden Water Surface F

Ink: Callifolio Baikal

The Vanishing Point will be my go-to pen for meetings this month so I inked it up with a business appropriate blue-black. This is my first time trying Baikal. So far it showing some nice shading.

Pen: Nakaya Decapod Twist SF

Ink: Sailor Jentle Tokiwa-Matsu

Of course I could not leave my grail pen off the line-up for October. This time I’ve inked with up with Tokiwa-Matsu which I think matches the green that peaks under the brown finish on the pen.

Pen: OMAS Ogiva Alba EF Extra Flessibile

Ink: Pilot Iroshizuku Ama Iro

I had to include an orange pen for October so the OMAS Ogiva Alba was welcomed back into the line up. Ama Iro is a new ink for me and I thought that the line variation of the Extra Flessibile nib would show off the shading and line variation of this beautiful sky-blue ink.

Pen: Lamy LX (Rose Gold) EF

Ink: Pilot Iroshizuku Momji

Hello pen hotness! The long awaited Lamy LX were released in September and I managed to nab a rose-gold one. I love the design choices that Lamy made with this upgraded Lamy Al-Star. I paired this pen with the pink-red Momji (aka Autumn Leaves). A perfect set-up for the season of fall colours.

Pen: Franklin-Christoph Pocket 66 Italian Ice Masuyama 14K F Cursive Italic

Ink: Pilot Iroshizuku Yu-Yake

My wait for a Franklin-Christoph pen with the fluorescent Italian Ice finish has finally come to an end. The wait was worth it for this special colour. I love the contrast of the fluorescent purple body with the vibrant red-orange of Yu-Yake.

Pen: Franklin-Christoph Model 45 Antique Glass Masuyama 18K F Italic

Ink: Diamine Chocolate Brown

The pen gods also treated me to a long awaited Franklin-Christoph with the popular Antique Glass finish. Of course I went all out with the Coke bottle look by filling it up with some Chocolate Brown ink.

Final Thoughts

In the past couple months I’ve leaned towards 9 inked pens as the ideal number for me. This line-up as 8 pens. As I mentioned at the beginning of the post, I saved #9 in the line-up for a new pen. As I’m writing this, the pen is currently in-transit in New York. Hopefully this pen will fly into the nest soon. I have already picked out Pilot Iroshizuku Ina-ho for this pen.
