Throwback Thursday: First Look at Pilot Falcon SF with Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Budo

April Fools!
I’m posting this on Friday April 1st, but I obviously intended to post it yesterday for Throwback Thursday. So, perhaps, the joke is on me.

I really enjoyed the movement and rhythm of writing with a flex pen after getting the Noodler's Ahab. Soon after, I was looking for more flexible fun so I decided to get the Pilot Falcon. I know both these aren't true flex pens but I think they are good instroductions without getting into vintage.

Pen: Pilot Falcon SF

Ink: Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Budo

Paper: Rhodia No. 16 Grid

Handwritten Review:

I think I may be in love with this combination. The nib is nice and soft, I can get very nice line variation without much effort. I love how the lines look.

As for Yama-Budo - well, this is a popular colour for good reason. It's rich, deep and purple-y. The shading is fantastic. I love it. As usual the ink is well behaved.

Flexible Fun!!!

Wine & berries.

I should add that in addition to shading, I've come to realize that Yama-Budo has some lovely sheen. So, all in all, Yama-Budo and the Pilot Falcon make a great combination. The soft nib from the Falcon really brings out the shading and sheen of Yama-Budo.
