Currently Inked: Loadout for Weekend in Philly
Some family matters took me to Philly again last weekend. I expected to be busy and not have a lot of down time for playing with pens. Still, I brought along some essentials. This is what I brought.
Loadout
(In order of appearance in line-up)
Travellers Notebook Pan-Am Edition I keep 2 inserts in this: one for long form writing and one for drawing or lettering. I always do at least 1-2 writing sessions on the weekend so I had to take this along. Although I didn't have much down time while in Philly to write, I did manage to draft a pen review on my flight home.
Travellers Notebook Passport As always, this TN comes along for the trip. This time I put in my usual Baron Fig Apprentice notebook that I use to take notes of the day as well as my passport and that of my son's. I also used the Essential Leather zipper case / card holder from Baum-Kuchen. This minimalist case is perfect to carry a few cards and some cash on hand inside the TN. the white card shown in the picture above the TN is a sturdy calling card from Baum-Kuchen which I've been using in the TN as an ink blotter and page marker.
Nock Co Sinclair Case I enjoyed my Sinclair in the camo colour way so much that I decided to spring for the grey one for those situations when camo would be too, well, camo. I love how this grey case seems so serious on the outside but has this popping blue liner on the inside. I filled up the some stationery and pens. the outside of the case is dressed up with a Nock Co fishing vest pin and a DDC pin from Aaron Draplin's Pretty Much Everything Kit.
Nock Co Dot Dash Notebook For all the checklists that I needed to make during the trip.
Nock Co Dot Dash Notecards For the nightly love notes to my little guy. I love that he always asks me for one each and every night.
Hobonichi Techo How could I forget to include this notebook in the loadout shot? Needless to say, I took this along for that beautiful Tomoe River paper and for writing my mantras of the day and gratitudes.
Writing Instruments
Pen: Lamy 2000 EF
Ink: Franklin-Christoph Noir et Bleu
I left for my trip on Friday so I took along this pen in case I needed jump on a conference call for work.
Pen: Tactile Turn Gist Titanium EF
Ink: J. Herbin Emerald de Chivor
I thought it would be fun to have macralon twins for the trip. This is like a cute little brother for the L2K but has it's own style and personality. I'm really enjoying using the soft titanium nib with the sparkly sheening J. Herbin EdC.
Pen: Parker Vacumatic Major Golden Pearl F
Ink: Diamine Golden Brown
I thought that since I'm visiting a city with so much history, it was only fitting to take along a vintage pen.
Pen: Kuratake Yumeginga Dream Galaxy Brush Pen
Ink: Noodlers Plains of Abraham
I was hoping to do some Chinese Cacography.
Pen: The Pen Addict Retro 51 Tornado Rollerball
Ink: Retro 51 refill
This orange pen is hot and I needed a "normal" pen to fill out custom forms.
Final Thoughts
Nothing beats a quiet moment when traveling to jot down some thoughts with a perfectly curated pen and stationery loadout.
